Good morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for the 18Sep2016. Today, being Sunday and a day of low maintenance, I thought that a One-Legged Beggar would suffice. I am correct. For my leg I have drawn the 2 of Wands and for the 2nd card, or Beggar’s Aide, I have drawn XXI The World. Well! Whatever may be coming along today, if I need help, it will be here in diamond-dust-coated spades! with the World card standing by to help if I hit trouble. We won’t be too lengthy today, it being Sunday, but I will cut in some interesting points about the cards. (By the way, today’s deck is *The Medieval Scapini Tarot* by Luigi Scapini.) First, the 2 of Wands. Aside from the unusual art on the card, I have a pretty orthodox reading of it; the theory on the card goes like this “Air on the Second house, that of Taurus, which explains at once the latter significances ascribed to the card by some authors; the other category of definitions derives from the earthy nature of the Second house, which, put into the tone of the airy element, may cause something of the oppression, which the heaviness of this fixed and earthy house exercises on the mind. It is the impression of heaviness, of a load on the back, which easily may attain the more concise form of a fear, a gloom, a feeling of being downcast, impotent, weak and not able to resist circumstances. So it may signify the pressure of material conditions, the responsibility imparted by riches, but also projects or conceptions of an economical nature and the idea of capital and capitalizing. Further the combination of the principles of air with the house of Taurus must give music, and we may be sure that this card always has some significance in that way and in the sphere of art intellectually and in general. This is a very important significance.” (A. E; Thierens) Aka “Dominion,” Arriving by Fire to sit in Chokmah. In astrology it is Mars in the 1st decan of Aries. “The power of energy that is born in the Ace is given direction and a goal in the Two of Wands. Chokmah as the power of creation and energy is the best possible surrounding for the flaming forces, the first manifestation following the pure idea, the beginning of transformation. Yet the card is not talking of consideration, let alone any cares. It comes up strong and recklessly, a wonderful thing when guiding at one good goal or project. Nevertheless, one should take at least a bit care that those wonderful powers won't crush anything around to pieces...” (Raven) I’m striding forward, having made the deal with myself to go ahead and teaching in some form and some fashion, but it is all unclear because my 1st attempt was aborted, and I could have been more attentive, but that is all spilt milk now. I need to get going and put in place the partnership(s) demanded to make something like this work in my life. Turning to see what help is available for the Crippled Beggar, I am OVERWHELMED to find that help is available in 24 carat gold across the boards. IT is also a SPECTACULARLY good omen for the outcome of my project, so we’ll see, But when it does come through I need to be ready to handle it, to quickly and efficiently direct it into the proper channels for maximized use. Let’s get some theory on her; “As in the case of Uranus we want to point out that originally the planet cannot have been appointed,
astronomically, but the principle of cosmic magnetism, of which it is the organ, and the universal magnetized, field, the field of the world in which we live, must have been well known to the initiates, who worshipped Poseidon and Varuna, gods of the world-ocean. The symbols of the four fixed signs are presented at the corners of the cards, and where these fixed signs are seen as the foundation stones of our physical world by such visionaries as Ezekiel and St. John of Patmos, we cannot be far wrong in assuming that originally the meaning was that of the physical world coming forth out of the magnetized etheric ocean of the universe, which itself has been represented by the oval form, be it a laurel wreath or something else. The World must have had a larger meaning, originally, than that of the world of beings moving on the surface of our Earth, and the oval figure may well have stood for the form of the solar system at large, with its planets moving in oval orbs. Appropriated to the world of men, it must mean 1 that which falls outside our will-power, cosmic conditions to which we are subject, but which at the same time provide us with all that is wanted for our physical conditions. The latter of course became the reason for attaching to this card a generally benefic influence, especially in the domain of the senses. "It is eloquent as an image of the swirl of the sensitive life, of joy attained in the body, of the soul's intoxication--(can any word remind us more strongly of Neptune's workings than precisely this one: 'intoxication'?--Th.)--in the earthly paradise, but still guarded by the Divine Watchers . . ." (Waite) Let us put it this way: it means that if we row with the cosmic tide, we shall enjoy happiness and everything we want, but on the other hand we must not neglect the implicit possibility, that when rowing against the tidal current of the world, we shall experience trouble and no end of it, or if we 'cross the stream' we shall have to stand firm on our legs. So besides the joy of the senses, this card means also the cosmic origin of life, to which the candidate for initiation returns, and which now and then appears in dreams. In fact this card has much to do with dream-life. The relations of Neptune with the Moon and the lunar body are not unknown to astrologers nowadays.” (A.E. Thierens, Ibid.) She is in the Tree of Life on the Path of Tau, 32, and is associated with Neptune. On the Tree she strides from Malkuth to Yesod, and she is of the Earth. “The ([World] as the end and completion of the Major Arcana is the symbol for the zenith of development - the achieved goal. The work is done or will soon be and we have found our place in life or will soon do so. Seeing the second decade of the Major Arcana as a way of self-realization, the [World] becomes the crown and the end. The Death was the rebirth, [Temperance] the beginning of the alchemic work, the Devil the overcoming of restrictions, the Tower the breakdown of the jail. We followed the Star, explored the Moon, found the Sun and . . . Finally, we touched the Universe. (Raven) I ask the Cosmos today to give us the good news that a goal has been achieved or a success sure to come and that a venture will flourish Be Well!
