 Good Morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for 10/11/2017; today’s deck is *The Hermetic Tarot* by Godfrey Dawson. This is my “secret weapon” deck. In terms of “levels of seriousness & esoterism,” this deck ranks 11th on a scale of 1 to 10. IT is, simply put, quite superb; however, such a superb and deeply esoteric deck requires some level of confidence & experience in the reader; while these cards may “look familiar,” let me assure you they are not. This deck, recreated by Mr. Dowson, is the deck (“supposedly” – can one really know?) originally designed and created by Samuel Liddell (or Liddel) MacGregor Mathers (8 or 11 January 1854 – 5 or 20 November 1918), one of the original founders of the Order of the Hermetic Dawn. From the publisher, U.S. Games, comes this; “Godfrey Dowson’s subtle black and white designs emphasize the Golden Dawn’s astrological attributes with further sephirotic, angelic, geomantic, numerical, and Kabbalistic elements. All 78 cards feature an exquisite level of detail that highlights the powerful symbolism.” For an even further breakdown and deck-useful spread, see the following from Benebell Wen; https://benebellwen.com/2013/02/28/the-hermetic-tarot-by-godfrey-dowson-a-powerful-divination-deck-and-a-suggested-triquetra-spread/ . I LOVE this deck, but it certainly isn’t an everyday deck for me. This is “Power-Tarot” in a very concentrated form, and I really do think that one needs to feel at the top of one’s “game” to pull this one out and read with confidence and access to the corpus of one’s Tarot knowledge. More often than not, I forget to use it simply because it isn’t on my standard rollover of decks at the moment; but I ALWAYS know where it is – Grin. Onward and Upward! My draw today is as follows: Sulfur = VIII Fortitude; Mercury = XIX the Sun, and Salt = the Princess of Pentacles. I rather like this reading, a bit quirky though I find it to be. First to strike my eye is the role reversal;
my Animus is in a “female” card and my Anima in a “male” card – which is patently ridiculous, of course; the archetypes are (more or less) available to both sexes. Nevertheless, it strikes me right off the bat. That being said, I am GLAD to be in VIII Fortitude today, as I feel I can use some Energy today to really commence to implement my recent decision to up my 3D involvement in my spiritual Journey, and implement some sacred “duties” that I owe to myself to complete. As well, the dompting of my animal nature is of particular importance as I implement my decision(s) and go forward with even more commitment, even as I had already imagined myself as nearly maxxed out, but No! Oh foolish mortal, you just couldn’t see the rest of the Journey due to a previous incapability to see in that spectrum. Silly Rabbit!” Grin. “The Strength Tarot card represents nature, which, however wild in its primal form, is tamed by our subtler, finer self -- our feminine side, our inner self. The will and passion of our instinctive nature does not need to be broken, but refined and brought to consciousness, so that all levels of creation may come into harmony. The feminine soul-force contains a persuasive power that can nurture and induce cooperation from others, stilling disruptive energies by harmonizing differences in the spirit of collective good will. Clearly distinguish between your ego and your intuitive self. The Strength card advises that you assertively discipline yourself and separate self-interest from enlightened wisdom. Deliberately identify with your intuition, even if it works against the desires of your willful ego. Demand and expect the same from others who have some power in this situation. You cannot challenge them to live to a higher standard if you, yourself, have not yet done so. Influence others by setting an example of integrity. Your self-esteem will increase to the degree that you succeed in your efforts.” (www.tarot.com).
 Gliding on down the road of Destiny on a Roomba hidden underneath my long robe (Grin,) we come to my Mercury for today, the role of my Anima, which is XIX the Sun. Well, wow! – harrumph! And there she sits, looking as if she never had to pass gas; my Anima is riding a Big-time source of dominant Fire energy today, and if I know her (and indeed I do) she is carrying on as if it is the most natural seat in the Cosmos for her, at the same time trying to pry something juicy out of Ra the Sun god. If one is into conflating mythologies, you could say that it is Ra who is driving the Sun’s chariot, although the Egyptians would have spoken more properly of the Solar Barque, which Ra captained. “The Sun card is about the self -- who you are and how you cultivate your personality and character. The Sun's radiance is where one's original nature can be encountered in health and safety. The limitations of time and space are stripped away; the soul is refreshed and temporarily protected from the chaos outside the garden walls. Under the light of the Sun, life reclaims its primordial goodness, truth, and beauty. If one person is shown on this card, it is usually signifying a human incarnation of the divine. When two humans are shown, the image is portraying a resolution of the tension between opposites at all levels. It's as if this card is saying ‘You can do no wrong -- it's all to the good!’ Let your light shine. Be confident in the sacred power of your original nature. The Sun card advises you to have confidence in your natural divinity. Throw off any cultural conditioning that keeps you from being authentic with yourself. Step into the full light of truth and reveal your motives and principles. Once done, you will no longer give away power to the people that criticize and shame you. Focus on the positive and the real. Your authentic shining self can be a light for others if you project it without contrivance.” (Ibid) I sense the Roomba may need to recharge, so let’s
quickly glide over to the Energy source today, and it is a whopper, the Princess of Pentacles. This is the ‘Throne of the Ace of Pentacles,’ as I have discussed previously in the blog. “This card is traditionally entitled The Page, but in some modern decks appears as a Princess. This card's energy has to do with learning about compound interest and abundance. Her attention is focused on learning the natural laws that pertain to natural synergies. Whether the learning is about growing vegetables, the stock market or culturing new medicines in the lab, this Page wants to understand the underlying mechanism that supports the creation of results and abundance. . . The open-minded novice can look at a situation with fresh eyes and get down to the essentials with confidence. Leave no stone unturned. See if you can figure out why their experiments went the way they did and what you might do differently that could change the outcome. Passionately hunt for the missing pieces overlooked by those who came before you. Remember that the mind of a beginner is an open channel for genius. Let that openness lead you and you will instinctively penetrate to the heart of the matter." (Ibid) “So there it is, Mark, hot & steaming . . . like it?” LOL, yes, it is fine, actually, although with a different attitude I could see where this would be a conundrum of a draw; “But I CAAAAN’T put the cart before the horse, Master Ogilvie, I just can’t!!” Rosamunde whined to her master, who promptly gave her a sound smack across the cheek. “Silly fool! Think!” he responded. GRIN. It is a LOT to consider for a Friday morning, but then, when isn’t it if you want it so and if you want it more facilely, that’s in your attitudinal filters as well. I ask the Cosmos to grant us ALL today a re-grounding with our Earth connection. Be Well! Be Zen. Be Blessed!!
