Good Morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for 20/12/2017;  the deck in use today is the *Tabula Mundi: Colores Arcus” by M. M. Meleen, one of my TOP decks for readings; I love this deck, based upon Golden Dawn tradition, as well as the accompanying book (available separately) “Book M: Liber Mundi” by M. M. Meleen, Atu House, Barre, 2015. No time to waste today, so we’re moving right on, but if you don’t have this deck and read the Sacred Tarot for more than amusement, I HIGHLY recommend it. Onward & Upward! The draw for today, in the new configuration, ‘Considerations of Ani,’ is: A) Archetype of the Day = XVII the Star; B) Animus today = the Ace of Wands; C) Anima today = Prince of Cups. (B & C are drawn from the remaining 56 cards after the Majors.) As the result of a new ‘consideration’ last night, I have decided to add a subaltern card, the Angel from *Angelarium* by Peter Mohrbacher & Eli Minaya. It is a startling deck of 11 “Emanations” corresponding to the Sephiroth on the Tree of Life, and 22 other Angels corresponding to the Paths on the Tree of Life, each Path “walked” by a Major Arcanum. Let me preface this introduction by stating that the esoteric truth or untruth of angels and the place of angels is NOT my purpose today. Whether I believe in them or not is of no consequence;
whether I believe they are observers or participants is of no matter. Speaking more in the function of art aficionado, I simply like and enjoy the “conceit” of believing that they are so personalized and that we take them as being of endless goodwill to aid humanity. I’m not so sure that that is ANYWHERE NEAR the truth; I more readily believe in the possibility of Djinns than I do of this oh-so-sympathetic conceit we have that angels are our humble servitors under the direction of Higher Management. Harrumph, enough of my bellowing. Today’s Arcanum, XVII the Star, is guarded by Sahaqiel, Angel of the Sky; “The Shield bearer and the gatekeeper who stands outside the gateway between Angelarium and the expanse of existence. A benevolent figure whose compassion knows no bound or equal. Sahaqiel blesses and protects, shielding us from storm and fire alike. The sky forms a ring around the earth many times over. Its movement forms the clouds, obscures the sun, and reminds us that Sahaqiel stands guard. Sigils: A shield, a ring, a blessing hand.” (LWB) Now let’s move on to the Sacred Tarot itself, shall we? Grin. The Archetype under consideration today, the Major Arcana to take and consider in as many forms and facets as possible, is XVII the Star. This is always understand to mean “Hope’ for most readers, but like all the MA, there is more than one facile reading to make; archetypes are by their very nature multi-layered and highly complex; they almost ALWAYS include a complimentary reading that can differ from the main in a startling degree, or not. So today She shall be my pilot light, and I shall consider her charms and drawbacks, if those there be. My Animus today is brimming with creative energy, the Ace of Wands.
I’ve always enjoyed the Ace of Wands showing up in a reading, and I believe implicitly in its suggestion that this is where the untapped energy is today upon which my Animus may draw. These “Orphic Eggs” of the Suits are ALL “bombs” of the essence of the qualities of that particular suit, so when the Ace shows up, Anything Is Possible. I LIKE that –Grin. From Ms. Meleen’s book; “The Ace of Wands is mapped to the Yod or Supernal Father of YHVH, and so is both Kether and Chokmah, the first Force, or the positive potency. It is said to symbolize natural force, as opposed to invoked force. It is the very beginning stage of the process of the godhead manifesting in matter. This is the force of initiation, one step before manifested will. This is the spark that ignites the will. It is potency and creative energy, the birth of all things from the divine One. It is the first tendency or initiative of the world of spirit to head towards matter. . . . The seed grows the root of the element of Fire. This is the initial spark of divine will, which becomes things of Force: creativity, energy, potency and passion. The goal is the power to Will.” And as our third card today, my Anima is enamored today of the Prince of Cups; “The Prince of Cups brings a time to be a hero of emotional explorations. One knows oneself, and the polarities ranging between Disappointment and Pleasure. A Prince is not inclined toward Truce in between these options, unless the life force is exhausted, as he prefers the intensity of emotional extremes. As a person he is secretive and artistic, ardent and torrential, secretly desirous of power and control. On the surface he appears calm, while underneath he is intensely
passionate.  If ill-dignified he is evil, ruthless and without conscience, and cannot be relied upon to work for the common good.” (Ibid) First of all, I am immediately struck by how similar, almost clone-copied, this description is to a description that could have been made of me during my adolescence and young adulthood. I lived more in the suit of Swords, but this description is the “secret me”’ that existed back then; one of the projects that age automatically brings with it is the reconciliation of the private “you” with the public “you,” IF you are evolving. IF you are not, it widens the gulf and deepens the chasm. You work towards evolution, personal Alchemy, hopefully ever making progress to the Great Work; if not, the descent into insanity is torturous and filled with pain and Despair. Insanity isn’t always the howling, raging schizophrenic in a public place, you know; look around, more than half the population around you is composed of the walking insane. HOPEFULLY, I’m not . . . LOL. I ask the Cosmos today to give us ALL a better understanding of where we have been, and why. Be Well! Be Zen. Be Blessed!!
