Good Morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for 31/01/2018; the deck today is *The Hermetic Tarot* by Godfrey Dowson, and the part of the title that I never quote but that I love for its kitsch value is “Based upon the Esoteric Workings of the Secret Order of the Golden Dawn.” Now quick, scurry forward, kneel and tug your forelock for the gentleman. LOL.  It IS a great deck, however, and because it is in black and white you don’t simply become lost in a riot of color, as the cards are highly enough detailed as it is. The internal logic for the deck is in perfect GD accord, with, I am happy to say, Fortitude (Strength) at VIII and Justice at XI. (My pet harangue; Grin.) It all makes for a flawless reading deck, IF your intuition is already on fire and doesn’t need help AND IF you are not a novice; this deck isn’t meant for new tarologues. However; I’m a great believer in having this deck ON HAND for that moment when it strikes you, perhaps even at 1:00 a.m. in the morning, when you suddenly realize, “I’m ready.” Onward and Upward! My draw for today is as follows: A) Guiding Arcanum = XVIII the Moon; B) Animus = Princess of Wands; C) Anima = Queen of Swords, and my oracular card today is from *Revelations Oracle Cards* by Paul Miller, and is #1 Servant; “Giving. Humble. Worker. ‘Servant – you are in this world to be of service and to heal. People that come in contact with you will see you as serene, peaceful and fulfilled. Socially, it is time to be alone. Move through work, play and daily life by yourself. Live more simply, taking only what you need and leaving the rest. By doing work that provides needed services to others you will thrive.’ ‘I am Giving’.” (LWB) Certainly truer now than when I was
young, I can see the justice of this card and description of my current “role.” Years ago I entered “Bodhisattva Without Portfolio” as my snarky answer to some form wanting to know my occupation; grin  . . . snarky jokes come home to roost, I guess. Now before you smile wickedly and mock me, no, I DON’T claim to be a bodhisattva; I DO, however, see that as a likely probability of my continuing evolutionary path, providing I don’t trip on false, self-built constructs along the way (like a giant emerald palace for my Ego. Grin.) Moving along, I appropriately have XVIII the Moon as my Major Arcanum guide today, and that is a trip; today is the day of the rare, 1X every 158(?) years triple lunar event; a full moon – supermoon - blood moon, and hell, yes! I’m excited. Never again in my lifetime . . . very cool. If Khonsu is guiding me today, I feel in wonderful, appropriate and adept hands. (Khonsu was the son of Amun-Ra and Mut, and was the god of the Moon.) Also synchronous with this is a dream/reverie I had as I swam awake this morning, of Khonsu coming to me in a physical avatar and lying down beside me. It was all terribly erotic and terribly virginal, nothing happened, but the feeling of intimacy with the god was intense. I felt very blessed to start my day. More traditionally, “The Moon card refers to a deep state of sensitivity and imaginative impressionability, developed within a womb of deep relaxation. Here we dream and go into trance, have visions and receive insights, wash in and out with the psychic tides, and experience deep mystical and/or terrifying realities beyond our ordinary senses. In a state of expanded consciousness, we cannot always control what happens. The Moon card represents the ultimate test of a soul's integrity, where the membrane between the self and the unknown is removed, and the drop of individuality re-enters the ocean of being. What transpires next is between a soul and its maker. Listen to the body and its unique wisdom. Rely upon your inner resources as your best source of support and security. The Moon card advises that you trust your instincts and intuitions.
Your aboriginal body, which is connected to all living things, is sharper and quicker than the cultivated, civilized self. The everyday mind may not be prepared for strange oceanic circumstances. Plus, it has no game plan. Your intuitive body will support you unerringly if you do not interfere with or try to control what you perceive. A better approach would be to meditate. Try to just be a witness. Do nothing; let nature carry you forward. This may be your best option in this situation.” (www.tarot.com) Moving on and down the Tree to Malkuth and manifestation, we find where I am today, in terms of my Animus and Anima. And today, my Animus is leading the field as the Princess of Swords: “This card is traditionally entitled the Page, but in some modern decks appears as a Princess. This archetype is that of a unique individual, a nonconformist, often something of a bohemian, definitely independent by nature. He or she requires little in the way of affirmation or approval. Perhaps a mischief-maker, often an innovator or inventor, the energy represented by this card will only serve others until he or she figures out how to get others to serve him/her. This person's freedom is so important they would rather go as a peasant among strangers than inherit a fortune with strings attached. Don't be fooled by this humble appearance. This person is a future captain of industry or world leader, now serving an apprenticeship. These people are sometimes seen planting a staff like a flagpole into the earth in the far off wilderness (where they can start fresh without having to make any compromises). You could think of this card as a wild card. Quietly gather information that will help you direct a situation to unity . . . this card suggests that you cannot know how to facilitate communication until you have studied your environment. Your task may be to blend into your surroundings so you can gather information and get a clear sense of what is going on around you. Think of yourself as a secret agent for the greater good. In due time, others may recognize the role you play in the transformation from divisiveness to unity. However, right now
you are being asked to watch quietly from the sidelines.” I have never been a good spy, but I suppose it is never too late to try, grin. That pretty much says it all about my Animus when I was 20 years old; I’m not sure why its echo is back today, but I presume it has a purpose to fulfill, and the day will see it through to its end. I need only wait. Finally, we come to my Anima today, and she is impressive and ‘terrible to behold’ today, as the Queen of Swords; “Representing the energy of a Queen, this feminine power was traditionally known as a widow, crone or divorcee. In modern times, she can be viewed as a model of self-sufficiency, independence and intelligence. She often has extremely high standards due to her subtle sensitivities, which can be perceived by those around her as being critical or hard to please. Her true motive is to refine the world, to upgrade peoples' understanding -- so that everyone can have the space they need to become fully themselves. She is not interested in conforming. She is too intelligent to be confined to the role of housewife or nursemaid, although she is perfectly competent in those areas. She chooses her associations (or her solitude), and is seldom caught up in dependent relationships -- at least not for long. Her intelligence is not always the most comfortable to be around, but she can be counted on to see through superficiality and point to the truth of a situation. Make your own decisions. Exercise as much independence as you know you can handle. The Queen of Swords . . . advises that you refrain from remaining dependent on others at this time. Instead of placing too much confidence in the promises people have made, harbor only those ambitions you know you can accomplish yourself. The Queen of Swords does not want to wait and see what others would think, say or do. She knows what she wants and how to get it. She doesn't ask permission or even subject herself to much influence. There are times in life when no one can take care of you as well as you can. Leave sentimentality behind and take action. Make important decisions for yourself because it's up to you. You are the final judge.” And there you have it, by Osiris! LOL. Love that Queen, she’s got a pair. I ask the Cosmos today to grant us ALL a ball-busting bitch moment today if we need one. Be Well! Be Zen. Be Blessed!!
