Good Morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for 02/04/2018; here in France today is called “Poisson d’Avril” (‘April fish’ –who knows why,) and is more generally known as April Fool’s Day. I suppose, in some sort of twisted narrative, this is my day as well, in that this IS the “Fool’s” Tarot, and Tawaret knows, I am a Fool. LOL . . . I was just into a long intro about my newest health developments, and I suddenly thought, “Why are you going on and on about your fucking health? This is a blog about your use of the Sacred Tarot, not a chronicle of your liver, your intestines, or your moods as your state of health yoyos up and down on the scale of your tolerance for pain. Shut the fuck up about it except where it is relevant.” Focus, Mark, Concentrate – this is your (more-or-less) professional blog page about your Journey with the Sacred Tarot as A WHOLE, not the toilet stops along the way. So, I’m dividing those two rivers as of today: unless it is directly invoked by the cards, I won’t be chitchatting about the Alien baby I’m carrying in my guts. Grin. Same decks as the whole week past, by the way, and that is because I just don’t feel finished with this whole period yet at all – I’m still in pain, I’m still somewhat in the dark, and treatment won’t be described to me until Friday next. If cancer treatment was pain-free, wouldn’t the WHOLE world know
about it? You see – a lot I still don’t know. Onward and Upward! The draw for today is as follows: A) Guiding Arcanum = IV the Emperor; B) Male current = #24 the Weaver; C) Female current = #63 Communion; my oracular card today, from the *Labyrinth of Wisdom* (smile) is “Psychic” – “Your psychic powers are being enhanced. Use your gift wisely.” On the whole, I am not displeased with this hand; I find it, if not particularly modest, sincere in its evocation of “C’mon, Mark, you have to do your part, too. Be strong, remember to connect with the Emperor to stabilize and ground yourself. Your Animus side is feeling a need to create and share, to construct solidity and pattern out of randomness. Your female current is moving in the direction of total cooperation, sharing, “all cards on the table” and “we are most definitely a couple facing the world.” It is a GREAT card in terms of assurance about your “partner” on the Journey. Let’s look a bit deeper at what Sr. Janeiro has to tell us about these cards himself, in his “La Cábala de Predicción” (by same; Kier, Buenos Aires, 1984.) First, his take on how anyone should approach IV the Emperor; “Arcanum IV: The Emperor in the act of governing his domains. It is a symbol of the principle of the materialized unit, the will, authority and power ciphered in the letter Daleth; it represents the intelligible reality and tangible reality, the absolute principle emanating its powers. Modeling attribute: Uranus in Aquarius. In the Spiritual Plane it is the constant materialization of the divine virtue in man, the hierarchical progression in which life manifests itself. In the Mental plane it represents the four concordances of Affirmation and Negation, Discussion and Solution in their work of concretion. In the Physical Plane it tends to the realization of material things, the crystallization of effort
and obtaining power. Transcendent axiom: "To the work of your hands, give blessing, and in the thought, put heart.” As a predictor, it promises material achievements, foundations for higher companies, favorable results in the effort invested, and painful conditions to achieve them. Friendships are, simultaneously, help and obstacle, and luck is propitious and adverse at the same moment.” (see above) Whew! Yes, I can see that keeping this archetype in the forefront at this time is quite important – it explains for me why I am suffering at this particular time, and it reminds me of certain sacred truths about being a bona fide Man. Moving on, let’s see what our South American mystic has to say about #24 the Weaver; “Arcanum 24: The Weaver in the act of cultivating the domestic virtues. Symbolizes the industrious woman as custodian of the home and of honor. Modeling attribute: It is associated with the action of the planet Venus, the letter U and the number 6. It represents the elementary intelligence in its work of giving application to the fruits of what has been learned. Transcendent axiom: "Mesh after mesh weaves my loom, fabrics for my honor, and fabrics to honor". As a predictor, it promises organized economy, chastity in mathematics, female protection and good performance of obligations.” (Ibid) This is a lovely read, it just happens not to be the one I applied to it this morning. Both are valid. This is an important point for all beginning Tarot readers to remember; when a card pops up in your spread that not only “fits” but for which you have, “suddenly as if by magic,” a meaning for the card and its placement that groove entirely with YOU and what you understand to be the basics of that card – then keep it. Remember, as long as you are assured of your interpretation, take it; a Reader is
ALWAYS to choose his/her informed Intuition over the written word of someone else. Finally, we come to my Female current, #63 Communion; “Arcanum 63: Communion as an act of co-participation and identification. It symbolizes the human virtue of sharing. Modeling attribute: It is associated with the planet Mars, the letter H and the number 9. It represents the principle of unity in diversity. Transcendent axiom: ‘Give seed to those who want to sow and have none, and advice to those who want to ascertain and do not know.’  As a predictor, it promises affection, tenderness, intimacy, affinity, correspondences, mutual protection against third parties, struggles for common ideals.” (Ibid) Yes, and BOTH of my couples seem oriented towards the proper direction for now: my inner couple, Animus/Anima, are both united in progressing past this malady and moving on; my “exterior” couple, my wife and I, are both solidly behind the unity and goals of our partnership, and to tell the truth, I couldn’t make it past even one of these recent mornings without her soothing care, word and hand. It’s instinctual – I seek her hand for healing. While she can’t heal me completely of course, she has a powerfully calming effect on my level of pain. Thank the Great Lady Isis for that. Well, certainly that’s enough of me this morning. I ask the Cosmos to grant us ALL the healing hand of someone who loves us. Be Well! Be Zen. Be Blessed!!
